Netizens urged actress Ella Cruz to educate herself more after brushing off history as mere “tsismis.”

Cruz portrays Irene Marcos-Araneta in Viva Films’ Maid in Malacañang along with award-winning star Cesar Montano who plays the late dictator.

In an interview promoting the film, Cruz said history could easily be just plain gossip.

History is like tsismis. It is filtered and dagdag na rin, so, hindi natin alam what is the real history. Andoon na iyong idea, pero may mga bias talaga. As long as we’re here alive at may kanya-kanyang opinion, I respect everyone’s opinion.” she said.

Kasi struggling na eh, last three days! Kahit naman sila struggling even right now, di ba? So, paano kaya iyon na there (was) so much pressure on their side during those times?” she added.

Netizens pounced on the actress almost immediately over her unsettling remarks. Richard Juan had something to say.

Broadcaster Gretchen Ho decided to correct Cruz.

Historian Ambeth Ocampo also had to lecture Cruz.

Some won’t give Cruz a pass amid the flourish of the disinformation era.

Cruz basically acted like a “marites.”

The said film has been labeled controversial. The filming location is at the Marcos mansion in San Juan. Pro-Marcos actors such as Waray Karla Estrada and Bicolana Elizabeth Oropesa will also be making appearances.

Sen. Imee Marcos approved the film spearheaded by Boss Vic del Rosario of Viva Films. Family archaeologist and historian Eliza Romualdez-Valtos was hired as a consultant for the film that seeks to depict the accurate last three days of the Marcos family in the Palace.

Sen. Marcos also refuted claims that the film is part of the alleged historical revisionism of the Marcos family. “We’re not looking for controversy, but unfortunately, there would have to be some truths told and lies debunked,” she said.

She said the movie will show the Marcos side that the public still doesn’t know about.

“Ang masasabi ko lang ay panahon na para magkuwento kami kung ano ang nangyari sa Malakanyang, yung nalalaman namin. Hindi natin binabago ang katotohanan, dinadagdagan lamang ng kaalaman namin. I’m not looking for controversy but unfortunately there will have to be some truths told and some lies debunked finally.”

Ruffa Guiterrez, who plays former First Lady Mrs. Imelda Marcos, said the project makes her nervous but excited.

“You know, I have been in the industry for more than 30 years, but I don’t know why I’m so nervous today. Hahaha! I’m nervous but I’m excited,” said Ruffa.

”Even before this project was offered to me, I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries on Madam Imelda because she is my favorite and that’s the reason why I accepted this project. She’s one of the world’s most glamorous women, and she’s truly an icon. The setting is 1986, but it doesn’t stop me from just watching everything about her. From the time she was born to her love story, until today. I really learned something from Cesar (Montano) while we were doing the look test. So I’ll be sleeping with Imelda on my mind until this movie is shown,” Ruffa added.
