At least three people were killed and seven more were missing after a New Year's Eve attack on informal miners in northern Peru, a local mayor said on Thursday, the latest of a series of attacks on small-scale gold miners in the Andean nation.

Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of the 35th U.S. president, John F. Kennedy, died on Tuesday after revealing in a November essay that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She was 35.

Israel on Thursday said 37 humanitarian agencies supplying aid in Gaza had not met a deadline to meet "security and transparency standards," and would be banned from the territory, despite an international outcry.
